Keri Downing

COO

Keri is a long time Smithfield resident who even purchased her first home here in Smithfield with the Nathan Clark Team! She moved from New Jersey to Rhode Island before her first year at Gallagher Middle School. She went to Smithfield High School where she graduated in the top 10 in her class, then studied Wildlife Biology at the University of Rhode Island. During her time at URI she worked on many wildlife internships, as well as worked each year at the Ryan Center. She also worked at Goddard Park as a seasonal Park Ranger. All these experiences helped grow her love of the outdoors and animals, as well as helped her make relationships with many life-long friends.

After college, Keri continued to work at Goddard Park, then worked full time at Siena Smithfield and Siena Providence as the lead host. This taught her many organizational skills as well as people skills, as she was the first person each patron encountered when entering the restaurant. She then took a seasonal internship with Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife to study birds and their nesting success. She spent her time either boating to islands or living on a remote island for weeks at a time to study the wildlife. After that seasonal position ended, she went into the dog business and worked at a local dog daycare, grooming, training, and boarding facility. She started as a daycare handler, then was promoted to the front-end manager. Here, she honed her professional skills and customer interaction abilities. She met many adorable dogs and learned to love a whole new industry. After working there for a few years, Keri wanted to grow into a stable career, which led her to the Nathan Clark Team. The team caught her attention due to their community outreach, team growth, and personal involvement with each team member’s growth and goals.

Keri started on the team as a Listing Coordinator, helping the agents process their paperwork and post listings for sale. Her organization and science background ensured accuracy for all items processed. After learning the team process, she was promoted to a Closing Coordinator. She learned many new responsibilities and how to help pending transactions get to the closing table. She helped close over 180 clients in her first year in the new role. Due to her suggestions for the team to improve processes, she was promoted to Director of Client Success, helping all the administration team grow their departments. During her time on the team, she has won many team nominations and awards including the “2020 Impact Award”, “Whatever it Takes” Award, “Core Values- Value Relationships” Award, “Employee of the Month”, and the “Bomb” Award (nominated by the team for an employee who has gone above and beyond their role to help the team). At the end of 2022 she was then promoted to COO, where she utilizes her organization and problem-solving skills to keep the whole team running smoothly and ensures the team and clients have the best experience possible.

Outside of work, Keri loves spending time outdoors or relaxing with her husband, John. John and Keri have been friends since high school and started dating in college. They got engaged on their 10-year anniversary in Newport and got married at the Farmer’s Daughter in Wakefield during June of 2022. They also purchased their first home together in Smithfield during December 2021. Their home is now complete with 2 orange cats, Lewis and Clark. They were found in the woods of Coventry at about 4 weeks old and Keri’s good friend Kathy brought them to her home to nurse them to health. They are now very happy, healthy orange boys who get spoiled daily.

Keri and John love to go kayaking each summer in Charlestown as well as enjoy the beaches in South County. They enjoy spending as much of their time as possible with their family and friends. They also enjoy the outdoors by going hiking, visiting local parks, bird-watching, or traveling to new places. They love going to concerts and local breweries as well if they are not at home.

Keri feels her life has been forever changed since joining this team in 2019. She went from someone with no real estate experience and no savings to the COO of a Real Estate team and is also now a homeowner. The attention each employee gets from management regarding their life goals is something she hasn’t experienced anywhere else and has been a huge contributor to her new life. She never thought homeownership was a possibility for her, especially not so soon. She is the first one in her family to be able to purchase their own home, and she is excited to see where the next 5 years on the team bring her!
